Check with the airline for any limits it has on the size, weight or number of carry-on bags allowed. |

Generally, airlines allow: 1 piece of luggage weighing up to 7 kilos whose dimensions - Length + Breadth + Height including protrusions - must not exceed 115cm(46 inches) in total. |

Have copies of your passport made and placed in your carryon and check-in luggage. This is because if you lose your passport, it makes it a lot easier for you to replace it from your Embassy in your destination |

| Checked Baggage |
|
The weight system applies to passengers travelling within the Asian Region or to the European Continent through Asia - known as the Eastern Hemisphere (EH) route. |

Under the weight system, each passenger (excluding infants) is given the baggage allowance of 20 kilos on economy class, 30 kilos on business class and 40 kilos on first class. |

The piece system applies to passengers travelling point to point to North America. The piece system allows you to check two bags measuring up to 158 centimeters (62 inches) in overall dimensions (length + breadth + height) each and weighing no more than 32 kilograms each. |
|
Airlines have their own rules about how flexible they are ready to be regarding excess baggage. Usually, it depends on how full the flight is and the type of aircraft used. |
DOs and DON'Ts for Checked Baggage |

Avoid using expensive, designer luggage if your journey entails you to frequently travel from one place to another. Such luggage draws un-welcome attention to your belongings that may make you more vulnerable to getting robbed and or pick pocketed. |

Don't over-pack your check-in luggage as this puts pressure on the latches making them easier to spring open. |
|
Have your contact details such as name, home address, home and office number written and tagged on the outside of your baggage. |
