Consult your doctor 4-6 weeks prior departure
This medical consultation will determine your need for any vaccinations, anti-malarial medication and any other medical items needed during your trip. Such medical advice may also be sought from the Travellers' Health & Vaccination Centre at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (tel: 63572222).
Additionally, you may also like to include a trip to the dentist before you embark on your trip.

Bring along your doctor's prescription/letter detailing your allergies if you are on medication
Such prescriptions are crucial if you require immediate medical attention at destination.
If you are on medication get an adequate supply, as it may not be available at destination. Certain categories of prescriptive medicine should be carried together with your doctor's certification confirming that the traveller requires the medication for personal use. Do check with the Embassy concerned that your medication is legal in the country you are visiting.

A medical kit is highly recommended
This kit will include:
Medical items as needed by the traveller.
First aid articles such as an antiseptic (e.g. Dettol) for cuts and grazes, calamine lotion to ease irritation, bandages, band-aids, gauze and cotton wool for minor injuries.
Remember scissors, shavers and tweezers are prohibited by some airlines and should preferably be packed separately from your carryon luggage.
All medicines should be carried in the hand luggage to minimize any risk of loss during your journey. A duplicate supply may be packed in the checked luggage as a safety precaution.
