On 21 November 2008, the National Association of Travel Agents Singapore (NATAS) announced that in conjunction with its 30th anniversary celebrations in 2009, it will be establishing a new fund for the employees of its members.
The association will also be offering a one-time 30% rebate off its 2009 annual membership fees. Of this rebate, members may choose to accept the rebate or to donate its equivalent to the new fund. Called the NATAS Assistance Fund, it is basically set up with the donated rebate by its members.
As the growth of the world economy remains uncertain in the months ahead, NATAS is taking the lead in the initiative to provide assistance for the employees of its members in times of job uncertainties and salary cuts.
Says Mr. Robert Khoo, CEO of NATAS, “As an association, we strive to place our members in first place. In these uncertain times, we believe that we should be extending assistance to our members, especially to their staff.”
To kick-start this initiative, NATAS will be contributing a sum of S$30,000 into the NATAS Assistance Fund.
