Thailand
The opposition United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) on 21 January 2009 is scheduled to stage a demonstration at the parliament building in the capital Bangkok, in protest at the appointment of Kasit Piromya as foreign minister.
The opposition group has also threatened to hold a rally at the foreign ministry in Bangkok during the 14th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit, scheduled to take place from 27 February 2009 -1 March 2009
Traffic disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the protest venue; while business travellers and expatriates are unlikely to be targeted, clashes between protesters and police are possible, posing a risk of incidental exposure to violence.
Indonesia
Indonesia's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMG) on 14 January forecast that heavy rains would continue in eastern and southern regions of West Java province, including in the city of Bogor and the capital Jakarta. The authorities have warned people living near the Ciliwung River to be alert to the possibility of flooding.
Travellers are advised to avoid low-lying areas and to monitor weather reports and confirm that roads are passable prior to undertaking overland journeys.
