About NATAS Tour Leader Badge

The Tour Leader Registry was officially launched on 27th August 2002. The objective of the Tour Leader Registry is to provide recognition to Outbound Tour Leaders who are trained and qualified personnel capable of delivering services that fulfil or exceed the expectations of their customers.

NATAS Tour Leaders are each given a personalized NATAS Tour Leader badge.

Effective 1 Oct 2012, to be accepted into the Registry, all applicants are required to attend a comprehensive training programme conducted by the Tourism Management Institute of Singapore (TMIS). The course fee will be borne by the applicant.

Application Period

The Tour Leader badge is issued on a quarterly basis (March, June, September, December) to successful Applicants. We encourage Tour Leaders to apply for/ renew their badge the month before each issuing month (e.g. submitting registration for June Batch in May). Applications at any time of the year will be included in the next upcoming batch.

Tour Leader badge vs Tour Guide license (STB)

The tour leader badge is awarded to provide recognition to Outbound Tour Leaders. The prerequisite course for the badge teaches outbound tour leaders the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to access information for outbound tour, co-ordinate tour arrangements and develop tour commentary.

On the other hand, the tour guide license issued by STB is given to tour guides in recognition of the training they underwent to learn how to properly recommend the Singapore experience and describe Singapore's heritage, culture, key landmarks, and memorials to foreign tourists.
